Team and series competitors took a 100-question test, then performed a role-play in front of judges. Role-plays are common business scenarios where the student is asked to solve a problem and present their solution to the judge. Project competitors conducted research, prepared a paper, and presented their ideas on the day of the conference.

The DECA program is in its third year at Hamilton Wenham this year and is led by Business Teacher and DECA Advisor Laura Wheeler. As the program has grown to include more than one third of the school, Stefanie Rogal, Academic Coordinator of the RISE program, has joined Mrs. Wheeler as an Advisor. DECA is a co-curricular student organization of high school business students with over 200,000 members in all 50 states, 4 US territories, Canada, Mexico, Germany and beyond.  DECA helps students develop transferable skills for college and career, builds self-esteem, provides leadership opportunities, and stresses community involvement.

The team was joined by HWRHS faculty and staff Kevin Beckwith, Brianna Borek, Julie Cahill-O’Shea, Matt Fitzgibbons, Dan Hayden, Lisa Heitz, Kristen Lazzaro, and Jennifer Sauriol, as well as parents Lori Johnson, Stacey Verge and Carla Wise.
