HW Gives Back recently raised $1,000 this spring for charity. $500 is going to Sunflower of Peace, a charity that aims to help Ukrainians, and $500 going to Samaritans for suicide awareness and prevention.

HW Gives Back is a philanthropic effort in which members of the school community work together, participating in activities that raise money and awareness for a variety of student-selected charitable causes. Fundraisers were organized by each class, which included bake sales, an ice cream social, and duct-taping teachers to a wall.

Sunflower of Peace is a fundraising organization based in Boston that raises money and collects medical supplies to donate to Ukraine due to the current conflict going on. You can go to their Facebook to donate: @SunflowerofPeace.

The other half is going to Samaritans. Samaritans is an organization that provides a lifeline to people struggling with suicidal thoughts/actions, also providing grief support for those that have lost someone to suicide. If you’d like to donate or volunteer you can visit their website: samaritanshope.org.

The high school community is proud to support these charities and looks forward to announcing future partnerships.
